Community rules
Five rules, applied with published reasons. Rule references (like “rules/4.1”) appear in every moderation decision so you can check the rule against the action.
1.Speak under your stable pseudonym
Public participation is pseudonymous. Impersonating a real person, an agency, or another member is prohibited (rules/1.1). Officials use labeled official accounts.
2.No doxxing, threats, or harassment
Publishing anyone's private information, threatening anyone, or targeting a member across threads gets removed and can restrict an account (rules/2.x). Youth-safety reports are triaged first.
3.Classify what you post
Every contribution declares what it is — question, opinion, firsthand observation, factual claim, supporting source, official response, or correction. That's the whole system: readers always know what they're reading (rules/3.1).
4.Claims need support
Factual claims without a source are published but labeled unsupported (rules/4.2). Claims accusing a private individual of misconduct are held for human review before appearing (rules/4.1). Criticism of officials and institutions is not a violation — unsupported accusations against private people are.
5.Dissent is protected
Disagreement with the city, the district, this publication, its editors, or its moderators never reduces your standing. Moderation targets behavior, not viewpoints (rules/5.1).
Your rights when moderated
- You are always told the rule, the reason code, and any duration.
- You can appeal; a different reviewer — never the original decision-maker — hears it.
- Conduct sanctions never erase a valid residency or role verification.
- Aggregate moderation outcomes are published on the transparency page.
