The West High Wolfpack came from behind to beat the Mountain House Mustangs 18-12 in a triple overtime game at Steve Lopez Stadium.
Mountain House took an early lead when sophomore quarterback Elisabeth Ledesma connected with senior Jordynn Gonzalez for a first-quarter touchdown, and a missed extra point left the Mustangs up 6-0. They held that lead through three quarters. West got on the board with just over 10 minutes to play when senior quarterback Phoenix Amos connected with junior Alyssa Medina for a touchdown; a missed extra point kept the score tied through regulation and forced overtime.
In the first overtime, Mountain House took the ball first and a pass from Ledesma was grabbed in the end zone by both Mountain House junior Rylee Gale and West's Amos, which officials ruled a simultaneous-possession touchdown for Mountain House. West answered when Amos connected with Medina for her second touchdown to send the game to a second overtime. Mountain House was stopped short of the goal line by West freshman Gardenia Jara to turn the ball over on downs, but West's series ended on an interception by Mustangs senior Cassidy Townsley.
In the third overtime, an errant Mountain House throw was intercepted by Jara. West was stopped for a loss on a run, then drew a pass interference in the end zone to move the ball to the seven yard line, where Amos connected with Medina for her third touchdown of the night and the win. The result moves West to 3-2 on the season and drops Mountain House to 1-6.
